Dr. Jonathan Behler

Dr. Behler, founder and owner of Grace in the Shadows, LLC is a licensed mental health counselor in North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Idaho, Virginia, and Alabama, and an ordained minister. He is a telehealth provider and offers virtual counseling sessions in a secure portal.
He has a PhD in Psychology, a Master of Divinity in Theology, a Master of Professional Counseling, and a BS in Political Science.
He is certified in AACC counseling with panic disorder; Neurobiology and Addiction; Certified Clinical Trauma Professional; Marriage Works, and Certified in PCIT for Traumatized Children.
He has experience working with clients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, Tourette's Syndrome, OCD, marital issues, family issues, clergy burnout, porn addiction, and numerous other mental health issues.
He has also worked with military members and their families dealing with PTSD related issues.
He has worked with first responders, lawyers, doctors, veterinarians, nurses, police officers, mechanics, sanitation workers, teachers, professors, and many others. He also has extensive experience working with clergy members and their families, addressing issues within the church.
He has a strong interest in biblical integration in marriage counseling. He has witnessed many marriages healed and relationships restored.
He believes that God can take a person’s mess and turn it into a message and their test into a testimony!
Mary Beth Adams

Mary Beth views every individual as a unique masterpiece—created with purpose, strengths, and abilities that serve as the foundation for personal growth.
She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) tools such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and mindfulness techniques to renew patterns of thinking and promote resilience.
She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, and Christian Counselor with over 10 years of clinical experience. She has also been trained in EMDR techniques.
She holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and Professional Counseling from Liberty University.
She provides remote telehealth sessions for adults aged 18 and up, offering compassionate, client-centered care grounded in both faith and evidence-based practice.
Her areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and relationship issues. Her goal is to help clients gain insight, develop healthier coping skills, and experience meaningful, lasting change.

She takes a holistic approach that supports healing of both the mind and body, recognizing that emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness are deeply interconnected.
